The Birmingham Museum of Fine Arts offers several education programs for area schools.
Start with Art is designed to strengthen creative problem solving, analytical and
collaborative skills while raising elementary student test scores in social studies,
science and math. Beginning with the basic curriculum in Social Studies and working with
educators, the Museum designed a program integrating visual art in the permanent
collection with both literature and social studies. The program incorporates an
interdisciplinary tour and a hands-on studio component. Other programs include school
tours, teacher workshops, student exhibits and resource packets of audio-visual and
hands-on resources for use in the classroom. For additional information contact the

The Huntsville Museum of Art offers several educational programs for schools in the
Madison County area. These programs include docent led tours, outreach presentations in
the classroom by trained docents and an education resource center. Additionally the museum
curates two educational exhibits each year. Celebrations focuses on cultures and
traditions of a specific country through objects lent by members of the community. Study
guides are provided. The exhibition opens with a Festival Day that celebrates the country
with dancing, storytelling, costumes, art projects and a light sampling of food from that
country.The second exhibit of student
work from surrounding schools is held in March during Youth Art Month. |

At the Mobile Museum of Fine Arts, a wide range of art media and subjects are available
for students in K-12. Throughout the year, guided class tours with themes selected
from the museum's list or from class curriculum studies are available. Teachers may
request an accompanying art activity appropriate to the selected tour for their students.
In addition, the museum has several traveling trunks available for checkout. The African
Trunk, the Native American Trunk and the Preschool Trunk include books, slides, lesson
plans, clothing samples, art works or objects, musical instruments and activities for an
entire week. The museum also offers teacher training workshops during the school year. |

The Wiregrass Museum of Fine Arts offers tours to students in grades K-12 .Tours are
scheduled daily Tuesday through Friday throughout the school year. Tours are guided by
trained docents. An art lesson, a gallery talk and a visit to ARTventures, the hands on
gallery, are included in the hour long tour. Contact the Tour Coordinator for additional
